Days of Aljaž in Mojstrana

Every year at the end of August, Aljažev days are prepared in Dovje, Mojstrana and Vrat. With the events in the paradise below Triglav, the memory of the great Slovene Jakob Aljaž, patriot, mountaineer, builder of mountain outposts, musician, pastor, who spent almost four decades of his life in Dovje is revived. The program is imbued with culture, mountaineering, patriotism, as a sign of Aljaž’s activity. Visitors can enjoy words, pictures and songs, all of which are enriched by interesting guests.
When Jakob Aljaž arrived in Dovje in 1889, he found himself in the cradle of folk creativity. A pious, patriotic priest noticed a great love for singing, acting and dancing among the locals. He left an indelible mark in the areas below Triglav. In 1989, we erected a monument to him. Since then, we have been organizing the traditional event Aljaževe dni in his memory.
