The village day in Rateče
The Village Day is a cultural and ethnological event first organized by the Tourist Board in 1979. It takes place every 15th August on the village square called Gorica. Local people, dressed in national costumes – most of them more than 100 years old- demonstrate old customs such as the procedure in wool production (from shearing the sheep to the final woolen products), making brandy etc. Visitors can also admire a sales show of beautiful needle-work, taste typical local food specialities, enjoy in traditional songs by local choir and in typical old dances performed by a well-known local folk group.
