Days of Kekec 2024
After a long time, Days of Kekec are returning to Kranjska Gora, which will be organized in the first week of the school holidays. Kekec days are dedicated to fun and creation, with Vandot’s fairy-tale heroes as the main theme of the program.
An attractive program of events and animations are intended for all family members. Animations, theater performances, concerts, creative workshops and many other interesting activities will be available.

Kranjska Gora is the birthplace of Josip Vandot, the writer of the trilogy of youth stories about the shepherd boy Kekc. With his fearlessness, courage and kindness, Kekec always finds a way out of all kinds of problems. It is interesting that the writer wrote the story of Kekac based on real events. In reality, there was a shepherd named Gregec, who had a younger sister. The sister could not pronounce Greek and called her brother Kekec. So everyone started calling him Kekec.
After the successful stories, director Jože Gale made the first Slovenian feature film Kekec in 1951. In 1963 it was followed by the first color Slovenian film Srečno, Kekec and in 1968 by a third film entitled Kekčeve ukane.
